When it comes to creating unforgettable experiences, Shannon Sloan is the go-to person who can turn a simple idea into something extraordinary. A proud graduate of the Leadership St. Pete Class of 2017, Shannon has spent her career crafting events that bring people together — and her enthusiasm for community, creativity, and connection is contagious.
From Vision to Reality: The Story Behind Sloan Design
Shannon is the owner and lead planner at Sloan Design, an event planning company based in the Tampa Bay area. Her expertise spans nonprofit galas, corporate conferences, weddings, showers, and social celebrations — each event designed with her signature blend of style, organization, and heart.
After years in the events industry, Shannon decided to step out on her own to build something that truly reflected her values: collaboration, creativity, and meaningful impact. “I love seeing people connect and celebrate,” she says. “Whether it’s a gala that raises money for an incredible cause or a wedding that brings families together, every event tells a story — and I get to help make it memorable.”
Her motto captures her energy perfectly:
"The more you celebrate your life, the more there is to celebrate."
A Life Balanced with Faith, Fitness, and Fun
Outside of work, Shannon keeps her days full and her heart grounded. She enjoys hitting the gym, spending quiet mornings with a good book, and taking spontaneous trips to recharge and find new inspiration. Her weekends often include church, dog park adventures with her pup, and quality time with friends and family.
Those who know Shannon say she brings the same energy and joy to her personal life that she does to every event — positive, intentional, and full of gratitude.
What’s Next: Elevating the Experience
Looking ahead, Shannon is focused on elevating her events and growing Sloan Design into a household name in Tampa Bay’s event scene. She’s exploring new creative partnerships, investing in event innovation, and expanding her reach to serve even more clients — especially nonprofits making a difference in the community.
Her ultimate goal? To create events that are not just beautiful, but meaningful — ones that spark connections, raise awareness, and leave a lasting impression.
Staying Connected to Leadership St. Pete
Since graduating, Shannon has stayed deeply engaged with the Leadership St. Pete Alumni Association (LSPAA), contributing her talents to the Community Service Committee and Reunion Committee. She’s a familiar face at LSPAA events and an advocate for the value of staying connected long after graduation.
“LSP taught me the importance of service-based leadership,” she says. “Being part of this network keeps that energy alive — we’re all working to make St. Pete better, together.”
Words of Wisdom
When asked what advice she’d share with fellow alumni or future leaders, Shannon smiles:
“We cannot do all that this world needs, but the world needs all we can do. Every act of kindness, every moment of compassion, every time you choose to show up—it matters. None of us can fix everything, but together we can change something. And when enough people give what they can—time, love, resources, or energy—those small acts become real change in the community."
