Meet Mark Sprague! LSPAA's September Alumni Spotlight

Meet Mark Sprague, Deputy Director of the St. Pete Clearwater International airport. Sprague is a graduate of the Leadership St. Pete Class of 2020, aka the Visionary Class. Spraque continued his LSP experience by serving on the Planning Committee (PC) for the Leadership St. Pete classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023. He currently serves on the LSPAA Board as Chair of the Membership Committee.

His PC experience, Sprague said, gave his LSP journey “a whole different perspective”. Sprague noted, “I relish the experiences as a member of the PC because you are collaborating with different years of LSP graduates, and have an opportunity to learn from each other’s class experience to truly make that years’ “best class ever” motto come true”.

The 2020 Class Project was redirected due to COVID-19, yet the class still raised funds for both Family Resources and the City’s Fighting Chance Fund. Part of their fundraising efforts resulted in a mural on the side of the Morean Arts Center building designed by Gibbs High School art students, called “What Are You Doing for Others?”

Of the mural Sprague says, “I'm proud of our work and every time I look at that mural, I am reminded of the uncharted times the world had then. It also reminds of the elements of successful leadership that it takes to overcome obstacles: Integrity, Accountability, Learning and Communication.”

What you might not know about Sprague is that he is an avid fan of Snoopy, from the Peanuts comic strip, and has an extensive Snoopy collection.

Join us in thanking Mark for his contribution to LSP and the community!
